Meet Leslie
Hello! My name is Leslie Turner. I own Backyard Blooms! This is my third year in business. Backyard Blooms specializes in seasonal, locally grown cut flowers. I am a teacher in a rural area in Western Kentucky. I have been teaching Special Education for 10 years now. I love helping my students to learn and reach their full potential but also to be confident, love themselves, and find happiness in their surroundings. Just as I have a love for helping my students learn and grow, I also find the same happiness in growing flowers to their fullest potential to share my happiness with those around me. I have always enjoyed flowers. I enjoy the beauty in each and every bloom but most importantly, the peace that they bring. Working with flowers and having my hands in the dirt is my therapy. There is something so gratifying and satisfying to be able to start the process from a tiny seed and nurture it to become something beautiful. I began this business because I wanted to share my love of flowers with others. I want to help make people happy by being able to provide bouquets and blooms for special events, occasions, or even the “just because I am thinking about you” gifts. I start many of my flowers from seed and grow them in my garden. In the spring, I grow a variety of beautiful tulips and other cut flowers. In the summer, I grow flowers such as lisianthus, asters, zinnias, celosia, fillers, greenery, eucalyptus, and many more. I then cut and process each stem and design a variety of unique bouquets for others to enjoy.
Backyard Blooms also offers locally grown, fresh strawberries and blueberries seasonally.
